North Bonneville was originally a construction town for the building of the Bonneville Dam & Powerhouse. The town was incorporated in 1935, then in 1971 the towns location was selected for the site of a 2nd powerhouse and relocated.
Located 40 minutes from Portland/Vancouver North Bonneville has access to the Columbia River and Mt. Hood recreational area with year round sports such as skiing, windsurfing, boating, camping, hiking and golfing. Bradford Island Visitors Center located at Bonneville Dam offers underwater viewing of the migrating fish and history of the plant. Beacon Rock State Park (a large monolith) is a popular destination for campers and hikers. Cascade Locks are only a few minutes away where you can cruise the Columbia River on the Sternwheeler. If you are a windsurfer Cascade Locks and Hood River are one of the worlds top wind surfing destinations.
